“They won’t let us touch anything inside," said Andrew Risch, who was at the Livingston Street pizzeria with his wife, Jeannine, while the investigation of the 4:15 a.m. fire continued.

"If it were me, I would have loved to have started cleaning the kitchen yesterday, but they are still investigating," he said. "They don’t know for sure yet what the exact cause was.

"It appeared to be an electrical fire. We got the call at 5 that there was a problem." The borough building inspector ruled the building unsafe for occupancy. The Risches expect the business will be closed for several weeks but were unsure when they might be able to reopen.

“It’s going to be a little rough,” Jeannine Risch added. "Our clientele is really faithful -- they know us. Our place never feels like a business, just like a home. It’s been 20 years."
