Lodi police charge man with hitting 1-year-old girl during fight with sister

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: An intoxicated 26-year-old Lodi man hit a 1-year-old girl while having a fight with his sister and then tried to run from officers who took him into custody, authorities said.

Cristian Montero posted $10,000 bail and was released hours after Wednesday’s arrest.

Montero fled in a car and then bailed out and tried to run after officers who responded to his Pasadena Avenue home on the assault report stopped him moments later, Detective Capt. Donald Scorzetti said this afternoon.

“The investigation revealed that Montero was having a dispute with his sister who was holding her child,” the captain said. “During the dispute the two year old child was struck by Montero.”

Police charged him with child abuse, assault, eluding and DWI.

The child had a bruised left cheek, Scorzetti said.
