Erickson began her career in New York City, typing scripts for a radio broadcasting company. "After marriage and moving to the suburbs, she was a devoted wife and mother who brought her creativity and love of the arts to all who knew her," information from the funeral home noted.

She painted and made macramé. She learned the stained-glass making and then taught it at local adult schools. She loved antiques, including refinishing, restoring and selling it.

"She was known to drive her station wagon fast across railroad tracks in pursuit of a garage sale or a great find left on the side of the road," the funeral home continued. "She had an adventurous spirit and a cheerful smile and she was proud that she never once flew in an airplane."

Erickson is survived by her daughter, Wendy Erickson and husband John, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Warren Erickson; parents Josef and Anna (Murin) Schwabik; and siblings Louise Stillwell, Helen Esposito, and Joseph and Robert Schwabik.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., in Oradell. A service will begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Crematory, in Paterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 70 Main Street, Emerson, NJ 07630.
