HAWORTH, N.J. -- Joseph J. Benvent, of Haworth, died on Monday, Jan. 9. He was 89.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, Benvent grew up in Hasbrouck Heights, where he and his family had owned and operated Quality Market, serving the local townspeople.
He then went on to a career in property management, including two Bergen County properties, Hackensack Garden Apartments and Ridge Park Apartments. "He can be remembered for his warm smile and twinkle in his eyes," information from the funeral home noted.
Benvent is survived by his wife, Ruth; children Jack Benvent and his wife Robin, and Nancy Benvent; sisters Rose De Haven and Catherine Knapp; and grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew and David.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Louis Benvent and Matilda Luppinacci.
The funeral was on Thursday morning, Jan. 12, from the William G. Basralian Funeral Home, in Oradell, with a mass from the Sacred Heart Church, in Haworth. Interment was at George Washinton Memorial Park, in Paramus.
