NORTHVALE, N.J. -- Garret S. Sytsma, of Northvale, died Thursday, Nov. 17. He was 60.
He was a truck driver for Wilenta Carting in Secaucus. He spent most of his time on a field or court, coaching his son and daughter in football, baseball and basketball. He continued to coach in the Northern Valley Eagles football program and the St. Anthony’s Friars basketball program for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Garret Thomas and Kailyn; father, Sidney and his wife Vicky; siblings, Steven and wife Pam, Julia Garcia and husband Ric and Robert.
He was predeceased by his mother, Julia; and brother, Thomas.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s RC Church, 199 Walnut St., Northvale. Visiting hours are from 5-9 p.m. Monday at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., Northvale.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account has been established, The Garret Sytsma Memorial Education Fund, to support Kailyn’s college education.
