Raised in Englewood, Miller served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He retired in 1995, after a long career with Lever Brothers Company.
He was a longstanding member of the Ideal Lodge 470 Elks and American Legion Post 58 in Englewood.
Miller is survived by his children, Edward Miller Jr. of Washington and Debra Tucker of Clinton; grandchildren Joseph Tucker Jr., Shawn and Nicole Miller, Edward Miller-Rhone, Tanisha Tucker and Courteney Morris; and great-grandchildren De'shawn and Shalaysia.
He was also survived by brother-in law George Hampton, son-in-law Carl Morris, and many relatives and friends. He was preceded by his wife, Jean Miller; daughter Doriane Morris; and parents William and Lucille Miller.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 18, at the First Baptist Church in Englewood. Nesbitt Funeral Home, in Englewood, assisted with arrangements.
