WWII Vet Becomes Member Of American Legion Of Old Tappan

HILLSDALE, N.J. -- Irwin N.Talbot, Ph.D and a WWll Navy Officer, 92, was sworn in as a member of American Legion Post 162 of Hillsdale, Woodcliff Lake and Old Tappan.

Talbot was installed by Commander Phil Langner.

Irwin is a WW ll U.S.N. veteran who served in both the Pacific and North Atlantic. His service was aboard the USS SWEARER, DE 186, USS YNG26, USS YNG41 and Permanent Shore Patrol, Sixth Naval District.

He earned a Victory Ribbon, American Theatre and Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant.

He holds a Ph.D from New York University, is Emeritus Professor of Business Administration at St. Peter's University and is a Member of Board of Trustees of Visiting Home Aide Service of Bergen County.

Irwin and his wife Leta are long time residents of Hillsdale.
