John McKiernan, 12, set up a lemonade stand with his friends in August and walked dogs in his neighborhood to collect the cash.

"I just hope it helps them find homes," he said while giving the donation to the non-profit Pet ResQ's founder, Robyn Urman.

McKiernan raised funds last year for a different animal rescue group. He hopes to continue walking local dogs and raising funds.
