Dave Dishuk needs physical, occupational and speech therapy, according to Carolyn Hollis.

A YouCaring account was created by Metro Duda to help cover Dishuk's medical expenses.

Dishuk was the captain of the 1972 Boilermakers squad. The GHS athletics hall of fame inductee was described by others as willing to help anyone in need, especially his former teammates and other Garfield residents.

"It's a testament to [his] character and our friendship," Jimmy Sabino said of the YouCaring account.

"You were always one of my favorites and coaching you was a pleasure," said Jim Fricchione in a post on the page.
