HARRINGTON PARK, N.J. -- A Postpartum Doula training course will be offered Oct. 11 in Harrington Park.
The all-day course prepares individuals to counsel and support women post-birth to give them a positive experience adjusting to life with their newborns.
According to ProDula, research shows women who have support from a postpartum doula experience less postpartum depression and a higher rate of success breastfeeding. They have more positive experiences overall than women who don't have professional support.
Training runs from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. and covers parenting philosophies, the role of a doula in the home, physical recovery from birth, postpartum depression, breastfeeding, needs of a newborn and more.
Training, for a fee of $375, takes place in a private home. Participants must attend for the full 10 hours, and will be given the location upon registration.
A certificate in the training can be the first step to a career as a doula. For information and registration, go to info@produla.com or call (914) 400-3494. To access the ProDoula website, click here.
