OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- Kids are welcome to come read to Gracie, a certified therapy dog, at the Old Tappan Library, on Thursday afternoons.
These programs are gaining training traction across the country. The library notes that "dogs act as nonjudgmental listeners that can help children get over their fear of reading aloud."
Kids can bring a book of their choice or select one at the library. The program is for children kindergarten through third grade.
Each child will read for 10-15 minutes. These sessions will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Call the library at 201-664-3499 to schedule a session. The library is located at 56 Russell Ave., in Old Tappan.
