Avon Theatre In Stamford Holds Second Installment Of Religious Series

STAMFORD, Conn. – The Avon Theatre in Stamford is hosting special screenings starting with “The Pawnbroker" (1964) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

"The Pawnbroker" tells the story of Sol Nazerman, a survivor of a German concentration camp in WWII, who owns a pawn shop in Harlem. Sol contends with his bitter feelings toward humanity and harsh reality of city life. 

The special screening is part two the Avon Theatre’s “Religious Hope from the Movies” series, which is co-presented by Mockingbird Mininstries and co-promoted by the InterFaith Council of Southwestern CT. There will be a post-film Q&A with Revered Paul Zahl.

A special screening of Woody Allen’s new film, “Café Society” will take place on Thursday at 7:45 p.m., before it begins its regular run at the Avon on Friday.

The Avon Theatre is located at 272 Bedford St., Stamford.
