Annual Indian Powwow Comes To Ringwood This Weekend

RINGWOOD, N.J. — The Ramapough Lenape Indian Nation will hold its annual powwow at Sally's Field in Ringwood this weekend.

Those who visit 1304 Sloatsburg Road for the ceremonial event will find Native American crafts, traditional foods, music and dancing, according to the event's Facebook page.

"Other tribes come from near and far to participate," it says. "Here you can walk on the land where Native Americans have dwelled for thousands of years, amongst the spectacular scenery of the Ramapo Mountains."

It runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20.

The suggested donation is $8 per adult and $5 for elders.

There is a $3 suggested donation for children 5-12 years old. The event is free for all children under 5.
