Megan Fackler, then 38, of Ewing, was arrested on Oct. 5, 2024, after crashing her Chevrolet Traverse into a Freightliner truck at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Summit Avenue, according to Ewing Township Police and as first reported by Transparency Bodycam.
In the footage, Fackler is seen remaining in the driver’s seat for approximately 10 minutes, refusing to get out while insisting she worked for the Department of Transportation. The DOT honored Fackler in a post on LinkedIn last summer, several months before her arrest.
She eventually exited the vehicle and failed multiple field sobriety tests, the footage shows.
"Alright, we're done with the test," the officer says. "You can't even stand up."
According to the arrest report, Fackler's speech was slurred and her statements were incoherent.
“She appeared to be under the influence of alcohol,” Officer Phillip Culotta wrote. “Her words were slurred… and she was unable to provide adequate answers.”
Fackler was arrested and taken to Ewing Police Headquarters, where her blood alcohol content registered at 0.371% — nearly five times New Jersey’s legal limit of 0.08%.
Inside her vehicle, officers found open bottles of wine, according to police. Her three daughters — ages 8, 7, and 4 — were turned over to a family member at the scene and later taken to the hospital for evaluation. Her SUV was impounded under John’s Law.
Fackler was lodged at the Mercer County Correctional Center and charged with:
- Driving under the influence
- Reckless driving
- Careless driving
- Operating an unregistered vehicle
- Failure to possess driver insurance card
New Jersey court records show Fackler was also charged with DUI in Metuchen in March 2024.
