Clarkstown North's Robotics Tourney Achievement Draws Recognition

NEW CITY, N.Y. --  Rockland County Executive Ed Day congratulated Clarkstown High School North for taking home the Rookie All Star Award at the Hudson Valley Regional FIRST Robotics competition, held on March 24 - 26.

Students from Clarkstown North were among 47 teams of high school students from the U.S. and Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, India, Turkey and the United Kingdom that competed during two days at Rockland Community College.

The Clarkstown North team qualified for the national finals, which will take in St. Louis, Mo., on April 26 - 29. A total of seven teams, including Ossining High School, qualified.

“These young people are our future scientists, engineers, mathematicians and creative-thinkers,” Day said. “We can only imagine the advances in technology that they will make in their careers.”

Day also thanked FIRST New York for holding the event at Rockland Community College.

“Events like this bring young people together and give them an opportunity to learn and perfect their skills,” he said.
