SADDLE RIVER, N.J. -- The Saddle River Day School is hosting a free lecture from best-selling author, Dr. Michael G. Thompson, on Tuesday, April 26 -- and the public is welcome to attend.

Thompson has been a clinical psychologist, school consultant and international speaker regarding children, schools and parenting for nearly 35 years. He's written nine books, "focusing on the emotional lives of boys, friendships and social cruelty in childhood, child development, parent-teacher relationships, and psychological aspects of school leadership," a press release notes. He's currently the supervising psychologist for the Belmont Hill School, in Massachusetts.

His New York Times best-selling book, "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys" became a 2006 PBS documentary titled "Raising Cain," which he wrote, narrated and hosted. The lecture will focus on a more recent book, "The Pressured Child, Helping Your Child Achieve Success in School and in Life."

The school is strongly encouraging parents in Bergen County with school-children to attend. Parking will be available on campus, in the Main Hall lot. The lecture will begin promptly at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center of the school, 147 Chestnut Ridge Rd., in Saddle River.
