ALLENDALE, N.J. -- The Highlands A Capella Festival is coming to Allendale on Saturday, May 14.
If you're interested in contemporary a cappella, this festival may be for you. The event includes master classes and workshops with Deke Sharon, Dante Sterling, David Longo, Mel Daneke, Gimme Four and other coaches. The festival culminates with a Showcase Concert.
A festival pass includes all classes and workshops, as well as a concert ticket. Here are the workshops on offer:- Group Masterclasses -- Deke Sharon, director of Highlands Voices
- Solo Masterclasses -- Dante Sterling & Mel Daneke, director of Highlands Voices
- A Cappella Arranging -- Tom Paster, director of Highlands Voices
- Successful Auditions -- Heather Lockart, director of Stay Tuned
- Recording and Live Sound -- Dave Longo, The Vocal Company
- Mind, Body Awareness -- Mel Daneke, Musae/The Vocal Company
- Group Warm-ups & Improv -- Viraj Lal, director of Academy Voices
- Vocal Percussion -- Blue Carl, vocal percussionist on Lifetime's "Pitch Slapped"
- Connecting Emotionally -- Marcus Thompson, director of Highlands Belles
- A Cappella Choreography 101 -- Katherine Menna, choreographer for Highlands Voices
- A Cappella Team Building -- Joe Cantaffa, director of RockNRoll Chorus, Rebelation, Rebel Yell
The groups performing in the Showcase Concert include Highlands Voices, Stay Tuned, The Leading Tones, Soulfege, Highlands Belles, SoundXplosion, South Songbirds, The Octaves, Rebel Yell, Rebelation and Highlands Harmonics.

The festival will be at the Northern Highlands Regional High School, 298 Hillside Ave., in Allendale. The workshops begin at 9 a.m. The concert will be at 7 p.m.
