This weekend’s event pits North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue against the Union City Police Department on Saturday in the Guns and Hoses Strike Out ALS Charity Softball Tournament beginning at 10 a.m.
A doubleheader is set for Alvino Memorial Field, 52 Millridge Rd., in Secaucus.
Admission is $5.
Corbo, 70, was in his mid-20s when he came to the U.S. from Cuba with his parents and nine siblings.
A welder, he worked in the old Hoboken shipyards and then at Port Newark for 25 years before retiring five years ago.
