Investigators immediately grabbed Tobin G. Nilsen, 57, when he showed up at an undisclosed location for the sole purpose of “having sexual intercourse with a six-year-old female,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.
Nilsen, who is married, lives in Buena, NJ — a two-and-a-half-hour ride by car — where he served several years as a member of the local Board of Education, until 2004.
He is being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with child endangerment and other counts, based upon what investigators said is clearly proven intent.
Nisen first made contact with undercover detectives, pursuing talks with a woman who he believed would arrange the liaison, Molinelli said.
Besides authorities in Atlantic County, Molinelli thanked police chiefs in Maywood, Montvale and Upper Saddle River for their assistance.
