MIDLAND PARK, N.J. — The sons of a Midland Park special education teacher killed in the driveway of her home in 2015 are saying in a lawsuit that borough police are in part to blame, nj.com reports.
On Oct. 22, 2015, Suzanne Bardzell was attacked and killed as she drove her car into her driveway.
Her former boyfriend, Arthur J. Lomando, a former police officer, was charged in the death.
A Hackensack judge last year set $5 million bail for wheelchair-bound Lomando, who lost both feet after throwing himself in front of a New York City subway train during the manhunt that followed Bardzell's murder.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, alleges police didn’t adequately respond to Bardzell’s multiple complaints about Lomando, according to the report.
