WALDWICK, N.J. – For about 25 years, Dennis Morton has been spooking out Waldwick kids – and parents too – passing by his West Prospect Street home around Halloween.
“I had a mother tell me that she won’t walk in front of my house because she is afraid of the clowns,” Morton said, as he gave Daily Voice a tour of the graves, skeletons, witches, pumpkins, and yes, creepy little clowns, that adorn nearly every inch of his front lawn.
Starting Labor Day weekend, Morton spends his Sundays setting up the elaborate display of figures that speak, glow and even make smoke. He does it little by little, until the yard is complete.
“The kids love it,” he said. So much so, he said, that some parents have told him they drive past the house every weekday on their way to drop their children off at school, and then again after school.
“Everything is for fun, and I love it,” he said.
