Seventh-grader Melissa Riefman is selling hand-crafted paracord bracelets to benefit Go4theGoal Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families affected by pediatric cancer.

“Pediatric cancer is such a prevalent issue in our world today that affects many people in our own community,” Reifman said. “I wanted to do what I could to help raise awareness about this very important subject.

"So, I came up with the idea to make paracord bracelets as a fun way to bring attention to Go4theGoal and their message.”

The Girl Scout made 50 bracelets for Go4theGoal’s 12th Annual Richard’s Run Ho-Ho-Kus 5k in October and plans to make more for an upcoming event at Hackensack University Medical Center.

The woven bracelets are made with gold paracord because gold is the color that represents pediatric cancer.

"I would like to continue my project after I earn my Silver Award, because I find that joining in the battle against pediatric cancer is so rewarding," the Girl Scout said.

"I absolutely love having the opportunity to make a difference in my community."
