A German Shepherd and Pitbull got loose from a Park Ridge home Wednesday evening, April 16, Montvale Police Capt. Alisha Foley confirmed.
The two larger dogs then attacked a Maltese being walked by a man on Raven Road in Montvale, killing the Maltese and leaving the walker with a laceration on his hand, according to Foley and Montvale Police Chief Doug McDowell.
The dogs involved in the attack have been secured, and animal control is assisting in the investigation. Officials are working to determine how the dogs got loose and whether charges will be filed.
“An investigation is currently underway to determine how the dogs escaped and whether charges will be filed,” McDowell said.
