Proceeds will benefit the Teen Empowerment and Enrichment Network (TEEN) program at Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children n Paterson.

Oasis is dedicated to feeding and clothing needy women and children and offering them educational resources and skills, opening the door to meaningful jobs and breaking the poverty cycle.

TEEN provides a space for 30 girls, ages 13-18, in Paterson to become strong, independent, and thoughtful women.

The after-school activities at Oasis address six areas: academic goal setting and achievement; physical fitness/healthy living; life skills; art; leadership/community service; and college and career planning.

In addition to Oasis, Jersey Women Strong will make charitable donations to funds set up by several local families who have been touched by cancer and other illnesses.

Currently, it has more than 130 women on its team. Many team members compete in local races throughout the year, while some join to reap the benefits of exercising with other like-minded individuals.

The group offers weekly coached workouts, nutrition and fitness education, seminars, unlimited motivational support, and perks from sponsors.

Training groups include: Walkers, Beginner 5K (walk to run), Faster 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and Triathlon.

Charitable outreach is an important part of Jersey Women Strong, which has raised thousands of dollars for local organizations, including Oasis, the Center for Hope and Safety in Hackensack, and healingSPACE of the Bergen YWCA in Hackensack in addition to other local groups and families.

The Jersey Women Strong outreach program has grown over the years and the shopping event, which originally started in someone’s backyard four years ago, has become a large focus.
