ALLENDALE, N.J. -- The Allendale 5K -- with its motto of "Run Walk Creep Crawl" -- is returning on Sunday, Oct. 30, and it's not too late to sign up.
This is a "spooktacular event for your whole creepy family," organizers note. Participants are welcome to run in costume.
There is also a Haunted Hallows Fun Run option: "a loop that begins at the start line and takes runners and walkers into the woods where they are greeted by friendly goblins and ghouls," organizers note.
"They may even get some candy along the way!"
The event also features music, refreshments, vendors and computerized results. There will be awards both for the top finishers and best costumes.
You can register here. It's $25 for the 5K and $20 for the Fun Run.
Proceeds from the event will benefit local programs that target mental health, suicide prevention, and drug abuse in teens and young adults.
Folks can also sign up on the day of the race, for an additional $5.
The 5K will start at The Red Barn, Crestwood Park, at 9 a.m. sharp, and the Fun Run will begin at 9:45 a.m.
If a 5K or fun run aren't your style but you still want to help these programs, you can make a donation instead, here.
The annual event is presented by the Allendale Recreation Commission.
