Police: DWI Warren County Man, 59, Charged In Route 57 Hit-And-Run Crash

A Warren County man had been drinking when he left the scene of a crash on Route 57, authorities said.

Jeffrey Fuchs, 59, fled east on Route 57 after crashing near Newburgh Road in Mansfield Township on Nov. 25 around 5:50 p.m., Hackettstown Police said.

Fuchs’ vehicle was later found at the River Star Diner in Hackettstown with damage to the front driver’s side and a passenger tire off the rim, police said.

During questioning, Fuchs was found to be intoxicated, and a bottle of vodka was located in the vehicle, authorities said.

Fuchs, of Allamuchy Township, was charged with DWI, reckless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol. He was released pending an appearance in court.
