The curious cat crawled up into the duct — which had its grate removed due to recent remodeling — in the ceiling of a home in the Sun Ridge development in Raritan around 2 a.m., according to the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad.

After noticing that the cat was unable to back up out of the duct, the owner attempted to lure him with food and treats, but to no avail.

With help from the Raritan Township Fire Company, the cat was successfully extricated from the duct, which was pried open using specialized tools from a bag now dubbed the “cat in a duct” bag, the squad said.

“The cat was removed without injury and ran off without ever looking back,” the squad said.

“Cat safely removed with eight lives left!”
