Jessica A. Mongiovi, 32, died at her home in Henrico, VA on April 20, her obituary says.

Born in Hackettstown, Mongiovi grew up in Sparta and graduated from Sparta High School in 2007.

Mongiovi went on to study veterinary technology at John Tyler Community College in Midlothian, VA, and worked at Tyson Foods in Glen Allen, her memorial says.

She was also known for her love of sports and played travel soccer for many years, according to her obituary.

More than $2,800 had been raised as of Thursday afternoon on a GoFundMe for Mongiovi’s funeral costs and college funds for her five-year-old daughter, Jordan, and 7-month-old son, Joseph.

“I am not one to ask for help, but due to unforeseen circumstances I have no choice but to ask for it,” reads the fundraiser, launched by Mongiovi’s sister, Rachel.

“My sister unexpectedly passed away leaving behind two young children…any funds raised are for my sister to be laid to rest properly and to set her children up with college funds.”

Mongiovi’s Funeral Mass was held 10 a.m. Thursday at Saint Kateri Roman Catholic Church in Sparta.

“My sister was an amazing person who will be sorely missed,” Rachel writes. “God Bless You.”
