Freight Train Collides With Car, Killing Passenger, Hospitalizing Driver In Middlesex County

UPDATED: A freight train struck a vehicle in Central Jersey, killing one occupant and injuring another authorities said.

The collision occurred late Thursday night in a railroad crossing at New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place in Piscataway, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Piscataway Police Chief Thomas Mosier.

A passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, they said.

The investigation is active and continuing.
