The fire broke out about 12:15 p.m. Thursday on the 200 block of East Essex Avenue in Woodbridge Township, initial reports said.
An unconfirmed report said that the fire involved a tank that had been cut and that people had been exposed.
Woodbridge police were not immediately available for comment.
