A 62-year-old motorcyclist from Newfield was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, Sept. 8 on Route 55 in Gloucester County, authorities said. William Baldwin lost control while on his Harley-Davidson on the entrance ramp from Route 40 east at milepost 39.2 in Franklin Township around 3:50 p.m., NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. A tractor-trailer caught fire in Edison, shutting down most lanes of a busy road during morning rush hour, officials said. The fire happened on Route 1 south of the intersection with Grandview Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 5, the state Department of Transportation said. An alert was posted about the incident at 8:28 a.m. The NJDOT reported all northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed. Three southbound lanes were shut down, leaving only one lane open. For seven hours, the man stood on the ledge of the I-295 overpass, closing Route 42 below in both directions on Thursday afternoon, April 4 near Exit 14. A vehicle veered off the Garden State Parkway in Cape May County, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 1 p.m. Thursday, March 28 northbound North of Exit 6 in Middle Township, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. A Cherry Hill High School East campus police officer was hit by a car while directing traffic on Friday, Jan. 12, a school district spokeswoman said. The crash occurred at about 7:15 a.m. in the 1700 block of Kresson Road, 6abc reported. A photo from the scene shows the front windshield of a Hyundai sedan heavily damaged. A bicyclist was found by the side of the road by a passerby in Central Jersey, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The rider may have been struck by a hit-and-run driver, initial reports said. The crash was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2 at Nathaniel Street and Schoolhouse Road in Monroe Township. Truck Crash Jams Route 17
A driver escaped serious injury when a box truck crashed early Friday on Route 17 in Paramus. The driver got out under his own steam after the truck hit a pole and a tree, landing on its side on the northbound highway outside the Trader Joe's near the Midland Avenue exit shortly before 6:30 a.m. The right and center lanes were temporarily closed as a heavy duty wrecker righted and removed the truck. Traffic stretched for miles. All lanes were reported reopened at 8:44 a.m. Paramus police, firefighters and EMS responded.

Brick Officers Struck By Car Breaking Up Wild House Party
A pair of Brick Township police officers breaking up a wild house party and street revelers were struck by a vehicle -- sending one of the officers to the hospital, authorities said. Palisades Park Pedestrian, 70, Struck By Car
A 70-year-old pedestrian was struck by a turning vehicle Thursday afternoon in Palisades Park. The 27-year-old borough driver was making a left from East Edsall Boulevard when his Volkswagen Jetta struck the woman, also from Palisades Park, as she crossed Bergen Boulevard, responders said. Hackensack PD: Traffic Light Toppled In Red Light Rollover Crash
A crash caused when a driver ran a red light toppled a traffic light Tuesday morning in Hackensack, authorities said. The 50-year-old Nissan Pathfinder driver from Hackensack was headed south on Summit Avenue when he ignored the red light at Central Avenue, Lt. Anthony Natale said. The 2007 Pathfinder collided with a 2020 Hyundai Sonata at the intersection and rolled onto its roof, knocking down the light pole, he said.
