An overturned tractor-trailer caused a massive diesel spill on Route 80, authorities said. The Allamuchy Fire Dept. responded to the accident in the westbound lanes near milepost 19 in Allamuchy around 12 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, the squad said. Upon arrival, crews found the trailer on its side with a ruptured fuel tank leaking diesel fuel onto the highway. The HazMat team and Hope Fire Department was called to the scene due to the size of the spill, AFD said. Computer Parts Container Slams Into Bridge, Topples Onto Route 208
A Route 208 overpass was none the worse for wear after a container of mostly recycled computer and electronic parts smacked into it and toppled over Wednesday morning. A wrecker was towing the roll-off container, which hit the Maple Avenue bridge on the northbound highway in Fair Lawn around 10 a.m. The crash also pierced the fuel tank, creating a diesel spill attended to by Fair Lawn firefighters. Crane Taken Out For Spin Topples In Parking Lot Of Closter School, Cresskill Operator Cited
No one was injured when a crane toppled over in the parking lot of a Closter elementary school, authorities said. The 53-year-old owner from Cresskill man had recently bought the truck and was testing the crane in the empty lot of the Hillside Elementary School on Houmans Avenue over the weekend when one of the riggers failed, Police Chief John “Jack” McTigue said.
