Brian J. Potter, 39, is charged with aggravated sexual assault involving a victim under 13, sexual assault also involving a victim under 13 and child endangerment through "sexual conduct" on March 5, as Daily Voice reported earlier today.

Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said his investigators arrested Potter at his office on Friday after they and Mahwah police "received information that a ten-year-old victim was inappropriately touched by [him]."

Sources told Daily Voice a mother went to authorities after discovering the alleged abuse only recently.

A past department chief who also works for the township DPW, Potter was graduated from Mahwah High School.

He is divorced and has twin daughters with his ex-wife and a son with an ex-girlfriend, associates said.

A local judge ordered Potter held pending a detention hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court.
