Cornelius Verblaauw, 79, Of Mahwah

MAHWAH, N.J. -- Cornelius Verblaauw, a resident of Mahwah, died Sunday, April 24. He was 79.

Born in Paterson, he lived in Mahwah for the past 26 years. 

He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church, in Clifton, N.J. Before his retirement in 2001, he was a carpenter who owned and operated C. Verblaauw and Sons in Mahwah.

He is survived by his children Jane and her husband, Russ Easterhoff of Oakland, Bruce and his wife, Judy Verblaauw of Mahwah; grandchildren Brenda McKeon, Kimberly Katinsky, Stephen Easterhoff, Ashley Helbig, and Allison Verblaauw; and six great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Joan R. Verblaauw; and his brother John.

Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by interment at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Fair Lawn.
