Bonnet is one of several young professionals from Westchester and Fairfield counties to be recognized with a Milli Award from Westfair Communications, parent company of the Westchester and Fairfield County Business Journals. All recipients will be honored during a reception Tuesday at Surf Club in New Rochelle.
Guidance Center officials said Bonnet is one of the youngest members of the center's management team and oversees the Center for College and Careers, which works in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and Nelson Mandela high schools to help students prepare for further education and/or career training.
“We are delighted that Westfair Communications sees what we have known for years: that Daniel Bonnet is talented, motivated and changing the lives of young people in our county for the better,” said Amy Gelles, executive director of The Guidance Center of Westchester.
The Center for College and Careers helps youths and young adults in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle attain a high school or equivalency diploma and go on to postsecondary education, vocational training or the workforce.
“Daniel brings a high level of energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to his work, with his greatest passion being improving the lives of youth and young adults in our community," Gelles said.
Bonnet is credited for increasing the size of the program by bringing in young adults who need a high school diploma so that now the program serves people ages 14-24. Bonnet also started a partnership with the Food Bank of Westchester to provide snacks for participants and started an "attire for hire" program to provide free professional clothing for young job seekers.
