MAHWAH, N.J. — Girl Scout Troop 5985 got a private tour of Mahwah Town Hall from Mayor Bill Laforet.
Wednesday's tour was part of the scout's "landmark detective" project, where they are encouraged to explore their community and find out what things are important.
"We chose to visit town hall to show how the community all comes together in this one place," troop leader Sylvia Ripps said.
Laforet showed the scouts his office, the courtroom, and various other departments in town hall.
Ripps said the troop also visited Winters Park, the Mahwah Museum, and the Joyce Kilmer House, earning their "Celebrating Community" patches in the process.
