Women for Progress and WEDO, which stands for Women Empowered Democratic Organization, have designed this event to help educate the community about how the government operates, locally, statewide and nationally.

"One of the many takeaways from this past presidential election is the importance of educating our communities about the significance of the democratic process," said Erin Chung, founder of WFP.

"It is especially important for people to understand the relationship between what happens at the local level and how that impacts us nationally," she said.

WFP is a network of women from around the globe, based in northern New Jersey. It aims to bring awareness to progressive causes – including women's health, gun violence prevention, environmental protection, public education and human rights – through education, volunteering and financial assistance.

"WEDO of Bergen County is a women's political group dedicated to empowering women through involvement in the political process," WEDO President Cristina Cutrone added.

"This seminar speaks directly to what we as an organization are hoping to accomplish. We look forward to working together with WFP and inspiring women to get involved."

WEDO's primary mission is to educate and mentor women seeking to run for office, build a grassroots community of Democratic women who want to take an active role in local government and support of the causes of the Bergen County Democratic Organization.

The seminar will run from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Tice Senior Center, 411 Chestnut Ridge Rd., in Woodcliff Lake – and yes, men are welcome to attend, as well.

Space is limited, but there were still seats available Thursday morning. RSVP to wfpmemberevents@gmail.com to ensure your seat.
