Details Released In Parkway Crash That Killed Monmouth U Student Returning From Work Shift
Daily Voice has obtained details about the crash that killed an 18-year-old Monmouth University student last week. Madison Alfano of Staten Island, NY, lost control of her car and hit the driver's side of another vehicle on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway in Sayreville around 7:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said. Alfano's car went into another lane and she was hit by an oncoming pickup near mile marker 125.6, just south of the exit for Route 9 and New Jersey Route 35, McNair said. Somewhere Tracy Morgan Might Be SMH: Sedan Rams Walmart Rig On Route 80
Airbags and a bit of luck spared the driver of a sedan that slammed into a Walmart tractor-trailer on rain-slicked Route 80 overnight. The driver, who was alone at the time, lost control of the Honda Accord near milepost 60.8 in Elmwood Park at 4:48 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, New Jersey State Police Trooper Troy McNair said. The passenger side of the sedan's windshield was smashed when the Accord slid into the trailer of the International rig, the trooper said. No injuries were reported, he said. Man Killed On Garden State Parkway Remembered As 'Kind-Hearted Gentle Person'
Andres Felipe Valencia-Castano, an Englewood resident, was killed on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton on Sunday, Dec. 3 when he was struck by a vehicle while parked on the shoulder. He was 33 years old. "Felipe was always found smiling and would do his best to always go out of his way to help others;" Samina Sanders, who organized a fundraiser for Valencia-Castano's family, said. "He was a kind-hearted gentle person and embodied a true team spirit. He will be missed and remembered very fondly." The fundraiser raised $11,404 before it stopped acting donations.
