Bayonne police say the two were charged with credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card in connection with the carjacking, but the suspects in the carjacking itself remain at large.

The carjacking occurred July 30 shortly before 4 a.m. at 49th Street and Avenue E in Bayonne.

Authorities in Bayonne Tuesday issued warrants for Marquis Speed, 33, and 21-year-old Michelle Hortonlee, Ambrose said. They were arrested around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday after they were seen near Pennsylvania Avenue and Parkhurst Street.

They were arrested on a contempt-of-court charge.

“I commend the officers who acted so quickly to apprehend these suspects,” Ambrose said. “The diligence and professionalism of our officers are invaluable assets to the people we serve.”
