Four Arrested In Linden After Stolen Vehicle Crashes During Chase: Police

Police, including an off-duty officer, caught four people who ran from a stolen car after it crashed into a tree Wednesday night, authorities in Linden said.

Officers attempted to stop the 2013 Toyota Highlander around 11:40 p.m., but the driver took off after pulling over when officers approached it, the department said in a statement. 

Police chased the vehicle until it crashed into a tree on the 200 block of S. Stiles Street. Three of the people who fled from the vehicle were caught in nearby backyards. A fourth person was caught by the off-duty officer, who was working at an overnight construction site. 

Yeuris Sandobla, 18, of Elizabeth, who police said was driving, has been charged with resisting arrest, obstructing arrest and possession of stolen property. 

Another 18-year-old from Elizabeth,  Juan Marin-Tangarife, was charged with obstructing arrest and possession of stolen property. 

The other two suspects are juveniles who were released pending an appearance in Family Court. The adult suspects were released pending an appearance in Superior Court.
