Warren County Native Nikal Jones, 18, Killed In PA Shooting

The Warren County community is mourning the death of Nikal Jones, who was shot and killed in Wilson Borough, PA on Sept. 25. He was 18.

Jones was born in Plainfield and grew up in Phillipsburg, where he played basketball, football and ran track in high school, his obituary says. 

More than $11,000 had been raised as of Wednesday morning on a GoFundMe dedicated to helping Jones’ mother, Nicole, with expenses for his funeral, which was held Oct. 3 at Walters Park in Phillipsburg.

“Please help my family put my son to rest,” she writes. “We were stunned today to learn of the passing of Nikal Jones,” the Phillipsburg Little Liners wrote in a touching Facebook tribute. “Nikal played on our 2015 team….Our condolences to the friends, family and Phillipsburg Community.”

Jones worked at a Walmart warehouse in Bethlehem, PA, and was known for his involvement in little league.

He played for the Firthtown Falcons, Pal Enforcers and the Little Liners.

Jones is survived by his parents, Rashied Goodwin and Nicole Jones, his step-parents, Darnell Rose and Tyrese Fleming, his daughter, Nyla Kaylin Jones; his maternal grandparents, Derak and Anita Green; his paternal grandparents, Berdia Yates and Brenda Reid; his brothers, Darnell Jones and Anthony MacGurty; his sister, Kayonna Rose Ava Fleming and many other family members and close friends.
