WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Carol Mary Swistak, 80, of Wallington, died June 18.
She was born July 20, 1935, in Newark, to Anna and Gustave Pinckney. She was raised in Nutley then moved to Wallington.
She was married to her husband, Frank Swistak Jr., for 43 years.
Swistak worked as a home health aide for many years before she retired in 2010.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved ones. For more than 30 years, she volunteered with her daughter for the Wallington Girl Scouts, where was she was fondly known as “Grandma Carol.”
She was an active member of the Wallington Seniors and the Wallington AARP Chapter 4115.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; children, Donna Lee Whitzell and her boyfriend Dominic Nerli and her son Roger Whitzell; grandchildren, R.J. Whitzell and Tyler Whitzell; siblings Dorlores Kurczak, George Pinckney and his wife, Ann and Lorraine Sikora; and many nieces and nephews.
