WYCKOFF, N.J. – About a year ago, Gabriella Cetta of Wyckoff was making frequent visits to the mall.

“I was looking for something, looking for something and I could never find it,” she said.

That is when the idea came to her: “Maybe I should make my own clothes, have my own line,” she recalled.

Cetta officially launched her own clothing line -- fittingly named CETTA – this month.

The 22-year-old calls it a “versatile” collection, with pieces ranging from shorts and a short-sleeved turtle neck made of sweatshirt material to a white lace, razorback jumpsuit.

She said the collection vibes with her personal style.

“During the day I always dress comfortable, but then when I go out I really love to get dressed up,” she said.

Cetta said she didn’t always know she wanted to be a designer, but she has been interested in fashion for as long as she can remember. And with two seamstresses for grandparents, she grew up learning about the quality of clothes and how they are made.

When people would ask her about her hobbies, she said, “I know it sounds funny, but I think it's shopping. That is what I love to do. I love to pick out clothes if it is for me or for other people.”

Cetta decided to study fashion merchandising and management at Berkeley College in Paramus, because she “wanted to do something that I loved to do,” she said. But it wasn't until her frequent unsuccessful mall trips that she decided to branch into the design side of the business.

The first step in launching her line was designing the pieces. Then she found a factory in North Bergen to create them. Along her journey, Cetta has been posting behind-the-scenes photos of the clothes-making process to Instagram.

“I wanted to show people how much goes into making your clothes,” she said.

Cetta is happy to be an entrepreneur at 22-years-old.

“I felt like if I am going to do it, this is the time to do it, while I am still young, when I don’t have so many things to worry about,” she said.
