Nutley Police Officer OK After Fleeing Newark Driver Hits Him: Police

A Nutley police officer suffered minor injuries to his arm when a Newark motorist struck him with her vehicle July 6, the department said in a statement.

Police approached a suspicious vehicle driven by Shanoa Glover, 30, on Franklin Avenue. Glover hit the officer when she fled from the scene, according to police. 

Police briefly chased her but broke off the pursuit. She was identified and later arrested by authorities in Newark. 

Glover has been charged with aggravated assault, obstruction and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. 

She was also issued numerous motor-vehicle summonses, including for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, speeding, failure to pull over for an emergency vehicle, failure to report an accident, operation of a motor-vehicle while in possession of illegal drugs and failure to possess liability insurance.  

She was processed in Nutley and then transported to the Essex County jail.
