Michael Mayse, 33, was taken into custody following what authorities described as a brief standoff and charged in the killings of Keyshawn Jones, 23, and Shakur Cole, 35.
Jones was shot and killed inside an apartment at Stephen Crane Village in Newark shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday. Jones lived in the complex.
Cole, also of Newark, was fatally shot Nov. 9 at 67 Central Ave. in Orange.
The investigations remain active and anyone with information is urged to contact the prosecutor's office by calling 1-877- TIPS-4EC (1-877-847-7432).
