A 37-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries during a dispute with several others in Bayonne Friday night, police said.
The victim was with a friend near 19th Street and JFK Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. when a group of five males began arguing with the friend.
The dispute grew more heated until some in the group pulled knives and tried to attack the victim's friend. When the victim stepped in to protect his friend, he was stabbed in the side, he told police.
The five males fled the area. The victim went to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
The incident remained under investigation Monday.
