Police responded to the ACME Supermarket on Clinton Street around 12:20 p.m. Dec. 5, where an employee told police that a man later identified as Ricardo Burgos had stolen several items throughout the day, Hoboken Police Det. Lt. Danilo Cabrera said.

Police stopped Burgos in the back of the store, where he was found with unpaid Tide products, authorities said.

Burgos ran out of the store but was later found near 300 Marshall Dr., where he again ran from officers and into a nearby building, Cabrera said.

There, Burgos was placed under arrest, not without causing minor injuries to the officers taking him into custody, police said.

Burgos was charged with shoplifting, aggravated assault on an officer, terroristic threats and resisting arrest, Cabrera said.

He also had two open warrants for his arrest out of Hoboken Municipal Court.

Burgos was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
