A 21-year-old Bayonne man was arrested Monday and charged with sexually assaulting a girl in Jersey City earlier this month, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.
Xavier Patten was being held at the Hudson County jail on charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Prosecutors are seeking to hold Patten in pretrial detention.
Patten allegedly assaulted the 15-year-old girl, also a Bayonne resident, at a motel on Tonnelle Avenue in Jersey City July 7.
He is scheduled to make an initial appearance in court Friday.
