Peter Aaron Tomasso, 48, Of Hoboken, Ran Thriving Family Sign Business

Peter Aaronm Tomasso of Hoboken died Sunday following a long battle with cancer. He was 48 years old.

Born in Englewood, he grew up in Ridgewood and graduated from Ridgewood High School before earning a degree from the University of Denver in 1993. 

He went to work for his family's business, Manhattan Neon Sign Corporation, for 26 years, serving as senior sales principal who helped lead the company to a fourfold increase in revenue and an expansion of the staff from three to 25 full-time employees. He also saw a diversification into new business lines. 

Tomasso, who loved the city of Hoboken, recently relocated his company to an historic warehouse on the south side of the city. 

He is survived by his children, Portia and Robbie, "whom he loved more than anything in the world," loved ones wrote. "They were always foremost in his mind and heart, and he was extremely proud of them." 

He is also survived by his parents, Marilyn and Pasquale; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Margarita; his niece and nephew, Andrea and Mikey Tomasso; as well as many other family and friends. 

Visitation will be Thursday at Lawton-Turso Funeral Home, Washington and Seventh streets, Hoboken (parking on Seventh Street), from 4 to 8 p.m. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoboken (corner of Washington and Seventh, across from the funeral home). Entombment will follow directly at Madonna Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fort Lee, 2070 Hoefleys Ln. 

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Peter’s name to the American Cancer Society.
