But a storm headed our way Monday night could be much worse — when it comes to snowfall totals.

On Friday, Fairfield County received an average of about 4.5 inches of snow.

The following are unofficial snowfall observations, compiled by the National Weather Service:

  • Newtown: 5.6 inches
  • New Canaan: 5.3 inches
  • Shelton: 5 inches
  • Monroe: 5 inches
  • Bethel: 4.5 inches
  • Weston: 4.2 inches
  • Easton: 4 inches
  • Bridgeport Airport: 4 inches
  • Stamford: 3.5 inches

Temperatures fell into the teens overnight, with wind chill values of -5 and 5 as wind gusts picked up to 25 mph. Slush and standing water froze and black ice formed on untreated surfaces.

Saturday and Sunday will be partly sunny, with highs only in the mid-20s. Wind chills will make it feel as cold as 0 to 5 degrees. Overnight lows will drop to about 10 degrees.

And by Monday night, there's another storm in the forecast. The National Weather Service says there is 50 percent chance of snow from the nor'easter.

And it may be a lot of snow: Hazardous Weather Outlook statement from the Weather Service says, "There is potential for a strong coastal storm producing a significant snowfall and strong winds Monday Night into Tuesday Night."
